Let's begin by finding a comfortable position, allowing yourself to settle in for this meditation. When you feel ready, gently close your eyes. Take three deep, slow breaths, filling your lungs with air, and exhaling fully.
With each exhale, notice any tension in your body softening, inviting relaxation. On the next exhale, release control of your breath, allowing your body to breathe naturally. Stay present with the sensation of your breath.
Now, we will practice loving-kindness towards ourselves. Repeat these phrases mentally, offering warmth and kindness in your voice:
- May I have peace in my heart.
- May I be free from suffering.
- May I be healthy.
- May my life flow with ease.
- May I be free from fear.
- May I be happy.
Observe how these phrases affect your body and mind. If you wish, continue with phrases that resonate with you personally, ensuring they carry love and compassion.
Take a deep breath in and release it. Begin to wiggle your fingers and toes. When ready, gently open your eyes. Make an intention to carry this self-compassion and kindness with you throughout the day, wishing yourself ease and happiness.
