A Mantra for Acceptance and Serenity
Beginner's Mind
Evening Unwind
❝In this guided meditation, we'll use a simple yet powerful mantra to cultivate a sense of acceptance and inner peace amidst life's ever-changing circumstances.❞
Welcome. Let's begin by finding a comfortable position, whether seated or lying down. Allow your body to settle into a posture that feels both relaxed and alert. If it feels appropriate, you may choose to close your eyes or maintain a soft, unfocused gaze.
Take a deep breath in through your nose, feeling the air fill your lungs. And as you exhale through your mouth, let go of any tension you may be holding. With each breath, feel your body and mind gradually releasing and unwinding.
Now, bring your attention to the breath, observing the natural flow of air moving in and out. If it helps, you can place a hand on your belly, feeling the gentle rise and fall with each breath. As thoughts or sensations arise, simply acknowledge them without judgment and gently guide your focus back to the breath.
In this practice, we'll be working with the mantra, "This too shall pass." Whenever you find your mind wandering or when you encounter a challenging thought or emotion, silently repeat to yourself, "This too shall pass." This mantra serves as a gentle reminder that all experiences, whether pleasant or unpleasant, are temporary.
As you continue breathing, periodically bring the mantra to mind. "This too shall pass." Allow these words to resonate within you, fostering a sense of acceptance and equanimity. Whatever arises in your experience, meet it with this understanding.
If you find yourself resisting or struggling with what is, simply acknowledge that resistance and then softly whisper the mantra once more. "This too shall pass." In this space of acceptance, we open ourselves to the ever-changing nature of life, finding peace in the midst of it all.
Let's take a few more moments to rest in this awareness, anchoring ourselves with the breath and the mantra. "This too shall pass."
As we prepare to close this meditation, take a deep breath in, and as you exhale, release any remaining tension. Gently wiggle your fingers and toes, and when you're ready, slowly open your eyes.
Remember, as you move through your day, you can always return to this mantra, "This too shall pass." Allow it to be a source of comfort and perspective, reminding you of your innate capacity to weather life's ups and downs with grace and resilience.
Thank you for your practice today. Until next time, may you find peace and acceptance in each moment.
Meditation Song
[verse]
Embrace the flow, both high and low,
In every breath, just let it go.
Life's tapestry, a work of art,
Accept each thread, with open heart.
[chorus]
Omm, serenity, in you I find,
Peace and stillness, body and mind.
Waves may come, yet I stand tall,
Acceptance reigns, above it all.
