Arriving in the Present Moment

Beginner's Mind

Stress Soothe
❝A mindfulness practice to cultivate inner peace and groundedness❞
Let's begin by finding a comfortable position, either seated or lying down. Allow your body to settle into a posture that feels relaxed yet alert. When you're ready, gently close your eyes.

Take a few deep, slow breaths now. Inhale fully, feeling the breath expand your belly, your ribcage, all the way up to your collarbones. Then exhale completely, letting go of any tension or tightness you may be holding. With each breath out, feel your body softening, surrendering to the pull of gravity.

After a few conscious breaths, let your breathing return to its natural rhythm. Simply rest your attention on the wave-like sensations of the breath moving in and out of your body. Be present with each breath, moment by moment.

As you rest here, I invite you to consider this: How often in our lives are we truly present? We spend so much time and energy caught up in thoughts of the future - striving, planning, worrying. We're always trying to get somewhere else, to become something more. In doing so, we miss out on the fullness and richness of the life that is right here, right now.

So in this practice, we are training ourselves to arrive. To come home to the present moment, exactly as it is. Let yourself fully arrive here, in your body, in your being. Feel the breath flowing in and out. Feel the weight of your body supported by the earth.

Silently repeat this mantra to yourself: I have arrived. I am home. I have arrived. I am home. Let these words anchor you in the here and now. Let them be a reminder that peace and contentment are found not in some imagined future, but in the living reality of the present.

Continue resting in this awareness of the breath and the body for a few more moments. When you're ready, take a deep inhale and a long, slow exhale. Begin to wiggle your fingers and toes, gently bringing movement back into your body.

Then, when you feel ready, slowly blink your eyes open. Take a moment to notice how you feel after this practice of arriving, of coming home to yourself. As you move through the rest of your day, remember that you can return to this feeling of presence and groundedness at any time, simply by bringing your attention to the breath and repeating silently: I have arrived. I am home.

May this practice bring you a sense of inner calm and connection. May it help you live more fully in each precious moment of your life. Namaste.

Meditation Song

[verse]
Breathe in deep, let worries cease.
Gentle calm, wild thoughts release.
Now unfolds in soft embrace,
Peace ascends to its rightful place.

[chorus]
Here in this moment, quiet and bright,
Exhaling strife, inhaling light.
Just let go, feel the flow,
Arriving in the present, letting tomorrow know.
