Embracing the Present Moment
Beginner's Mind
Stress Exhale
❝A mindfulness meditation to help you find serenity and inner peace by being fully present.❞
Welcome, dear friend. Let us embark on a journey together, a journey into the heart of this very moment. Find a comfortable position, either seated or lying down, and allow your body to settle into a state of ease and relaxation.
As you close your eyes, take a deep breath in, filling your lungs with the nourishing air that surrounds you. And as you exhale, let go of any tension or worries that you may be holding onto. With each breath, feel yourself sinking deeper into a state of tranquillity and inner peace.
Now, bring your attention to the sensations in your body. Notice the gentle rise and fall of your chest as you breathe, the subtle pulsing of your heartbeat, and the warmth or coolness of the air against your skin. Allow yourself to be fully present with these sensations, observing them without judgment or expectation.
As thoughts inevitably arise, simply acknowledge their presence and then gently guide your focus back to your breath. Imagine each thought as a leaf, gently floating down a stream, appearing and then disappearing from view. There is no need to engage with these thoughts; simply let them come and go, like passing clouds in the vast sky of your awareness.
In this space of mindful presence, there is nothing to fix, nothing to change, and nothing to strive for. You are perfect and whole, just as you are. Allow yourself to rest in this understanding, letting go of any self-judgment or self-criticism.
As you continue to breathe, feel a sense of spaciousness and openness expanding within you. This is your true nature - a boundless, ever-present awareness that is untouched by the changing circumstances of life. In this awareness, you can find an unshakable sense of peace and contentment.
Embrace this moment fully, with all of its richness and complexity. The past has already gone, and the future has yet to arrive. All that exists is this eternal now, and in this now, you are alive, aware, and complete.
As this meditation comes to a close, take a final deep breath in, and exhale with a sense of gratitude and reverence for the gift of this present moment. Gently open your eyes, and carry this sense of mindful presence with you into the rest of your day.
Remember, dear friend, that this place of peace and clarity is always available to you, in every moment. Whenever you find yourself caught up in the storms of life, simply return to your breath, to your body, and to the eternal now. Here, in the heart of presence, you will always find your way home.
Meditation Song
[verse]
Worries drift away like clouds in the sky,
Tensions melt as we let out a sigh.
In this space, we find our zen,
The present moment, our sacred den.
[chorus]
Inhale peace, exhale the stress,
In mindfulness, we acquiesce.
Embrace the now, let the mind rest,
In the present, we are truly blessed.
