Continue to repeat these phrases, allowing the feelings of love and compassion to grow stronger with each repetition. If your mind wanders, gently guide it back to the image of your loved one and the words of loving-kindness.
Now, extend this circle of compassion to include yourself. Recognize that, just like your loved one, you too deserve love, kindness, and happiness. Repeat the phrases once more, this time directing them towards yourself:
May I be safe and protected.
May I be free from suffering and pain.
May I experience true happiness and joy.
May I live with ease and peace in my heart.
Allow these words to resonate deeply within you, embracing the love and compassion you have for yourself.
Finally, expand your circle of loving-kindness to encompass all beings everywhere. Recognize the shared human experience of wanting to be happy and free from suffering. Silently offer these phrases to all beings:
May all beings be safe and protected.
May all beings be free from suffering and pain.
May all beings experience true happiness and joy.
May all beings live with ease and peace in their hearts.
Rest in this expansive feeling of loving-kindness, allowing it to fill your entire being and radiate outwards to all those around you.
As you prepare to end this meditation, take a deep breath in and exhale slowly. Gently wiggle your fingers and toes, and when you're ready, slowly open your eyes. Carry the warmth and compassion you've cultivated within you throughout your day, letting it guide your thoughts, words, and actions.
